Edinburgh, Day 2

Basically.....I am in love with Edinburgh. Yesterday after Caitlin and I napped, we took a walk down Princes Street which is the main street of New Town. It was a beautiful day - cool and sunny. We took a ton of pictures, especially in the Princes Street Gardens - it's an area that used to be sort of a basin for the entire city's sewage, so once drained a couple hundred years ago, it was left incredibly fertile. We grabbed food at a small pub called the Hog's Head (like in Harry Potter!) - pints and bangers and mash (traditional British dish of sausages and mashed potatoes). We came back and spent the evening drinking at one of the bars downstairs. We met a lot of people - ones who work here at the hostel as well as those just visiting. We met people from Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, some from the U.S., and maybe more. There were the most Australians though...odd! Everyone was really awesome. We went to bed pretty late. This morning we got up and had breakfast with all the hostel residents...it's free! Then we went on a 3-hour walking tour of Edinburgh. Our host was an American guy named Andy who was a history major from Oklahoma. He was awesome! So good, in fact, that we are going on his Ghost Tour this evening - all the spooky bits about Edinburgh. After our tour, we came back and took a nap. Then we got up, walked down the Royal Mile which is the main street of Old Town. I saw where J.K. Rowling finished the 7th Harry Potter book - amazing. We had fried fish for dinner, now just writing this really quick and getting ready for the ghost tour.
